The hose expands and goes back when you shut the water off. No more fights with roller up a hose. So far we love these hoses (we purchased two). Of anything changes I will update my review.I keep this hose in my sunroom, to walk around and water plants with ease. If it were used outside, I think it should be kept hanging and out of the dirt or moisture of the ground. I've had it a couple of years and it's like new.It doesn't retract as much as I thought it would. It comes with a hanger that fits onto the spigot. You'll need it.I have been using this hose all summer. Its lightweight and held up in the hot summer. I am looking forward to purchasing a second one to cover the back part of my garden. I def recommend!I bought myself one of these and loved it so much that I bought one for my son’s family.It expands out and stretches just like it shows, so far no signs of wear or durability concerns.You do have to let keep the hose going after the water is cut for a little while to let the pressure drop and the hose shrink before putting it away but that’s expected.It's a nice hose but doesn't stay extended the 50 ft except when you have nozzle on off and water is expanding the hose. I need to order the longer hose but have struggled all summer with a short hose because it said it expanded to 50 ft. Can't win them all.Since automatic sprinklers were shut off for season used this hose to water lawn as weather is still warm. As well as flowers. Worked great!
